Reckonings of Joy, 2024 | Poetry

What does Joy look like to you?

Joy looks like being in love and residing in love, the love of your other and of self, the later being the foremost.

Joy means to live and breathe in what you have and have amassed and letting that be enough, hoping and allowing that be enough.

Joy means allowing yourself to be free of responsibilities and the happenings that really did not work.

Joy is sleeping, nestling in elbow with droll falling down and puddling up sheets.

Joy is saying enough of waka waka because I simply do not have the capacity to be there.

Joy is being moulded by God and allowing that be enough, to be a blank canvas that only he can paint and surrendering to him no matter your free will.

Joy is knowing, no! resting in the assurance that all things done now and in the future are orchestrated by his hands, by his blood, by his power, I am merely a vessel and in that I delight, as my fate and journey is in his hands.

Joy is knowing that all I am, will have and will ever desire is because of him and my cup runneth over in peace because the nurturing continues to hold me constantly.

Joy is knowing that these tears are because God sees me deeply and passionately, irretrievably, quite unapologetically and recklessly loves me and I am made whole by him.

Joy is restoration, I am restored, I am new, I am whole, I am enough, I am able, I am able through Christ Jesus, all is well with me.

Amen
