Yam Observations, 2021, Digital collage
Reminiscing weekend breakfasts as a child, with yam and some stew medleys like Panla stew, egg stew or corned beef stew.
Omo!! the way we'd spread the corned beef stew over the sugary yam slices and cut them up in little triangles, pretending each slice was pizza, lovely little things as that. Sometimes the highlight of my Sunday as I wasn't a fan of church.
I remember the way Mum would cut off the yams' skin, I'm right-handed and she isn't and I was always in awe of the way she held things and manoeuvred tools like knives.
Sometime in January, I got it right just the way she does and was a little proud that I didn't puncture a vein.
